ABOUT US
4 Rivers Institute together with Waaponi work to promote spaces in which to obtain and develop knowledge in leadership, economics and awareness. These spaces are carried out with women belonging to rural areas to promote education, economic activity within these spaces and above all to form a change in the lives of many indigenous women.
Project and objective
Strengthening the economic autonomy of rural women in the canton of Cuenca through their participation in solidarity savings and loan associations. I
mprove the economic autonomy of rural women through access to credit, promotion of productive activities and capacity building.
Directly: 245 women from rural parishes in the canton of Cuenca.
Indirectly: 735 people, members of the partner's households, among them, children who, by virtue of the women's economic autonomy, will improve their nutrition and learning.
Beneficiary population
Results
Formed 4 savings banks in areas with low coverage of financial services.
Strengthened the operational and organizational capacity of the savings and credit cooperatives (4 new and 3 existing).
Strengthened the capacities of 245 women members of the CAS to undertake productive activities.
Created a mechanism to coordinate and strengthen CSACs.
